T&R Pastoral purchases Country Fresh Australia
Tuesday, March 2, 2010T&R Pastoral are pleased to announce they have entered into an agreement whereby T&R Pastoral will acquire 100% of Country Fresh Australia (CFA) and it subsidiaries in the United States of America and China.
Country Fresh Australia is a leading processor of high quality Lamb, Mutton and Goat for global markets worldwide and the Australian domestic market. Country Fresh Australia comprises of 2 state of the art processing facilities in Tamworth, NSW and Wallangarra, QLD. In addition to these two plants CFA also operates Country Fresh Nationwide based in Coffs Harbour that supplies the eastern Australian domestic market. CFA has offices domiciled in the USA and China and is headquartered in Armidale NSW.
Chairman of Country Fresh Australia Mr. John Jackson expressed sincerely that “the Jackson family are proud to be passing our successful meat operations to another 100% Australian family owned company. We wish the Thomas Family all the best for the future and are confident their pursuit of a truly global food operation will come to fruition.”
Mr. Jackson also wanted to thank all the businesses, farmers and individuals associated with Country Fresh over the years for their loyalty and support and trust the same will be afforded to the Thomas Family.
T&R Pastoral currently has two major plants located in South Australia. T&R Pastoral also recently acquired 50% of Foodcomm International who has been one of the leading importers of Australian Chilled Beef and Lamb, as well as Mutton and Goat, in North America for over 20 years.
T&R’s CEO Mr. Darren Thomas said T&R’s acquisition of Country Fresh Australia was “strategically a good fit for the company giving it further access to the farmers and livestock markets of NSW and Queensland. It is our intention that it will be business as usual and we are looking forward to building on the successes that the Jackson Family have achieved over many decades”.
“T&R are under no illusion that the processing sector will encounter tough times as the flock rebuilds, and there is no doubt that the industry is going through structural change at the moment, but T&R is excited about the opportunities that lay ahead. The acquisition displays great commitment to rural Australia in a time when processing plants are closing.” Mr. Thomas added.
The sale will of course be subject to all regulatory approvals.
