T & R Pastoral has opened their new state-of-the-art boning facilities in Murray Bridge with accolades from the Rural City of Murray Bridge council.

Murray Bridge Mayor Allan Arbon said the building consolidated T & R Pastoral as the major employer in the town and provided the company with the ability to grow its staff.

“It is our (council’s)job now to get the State Government on our side to make sure businesses like T & R and others have the infrastructure in place to grow”

T & T Pastoral Group operations manager David McKay said the multimillion dollar lamb and mutton boning facilities, which is a little over two stories high, took more than two years of planning and eight months to build.

He said the facilities were built to meet the highest hygiene and safety standards around and was one of the largest most efficient meat processing facilities in Australia.

“The new facilities are ergonomically sound and will give opportunity for employment to school leavers and mothers as a lot of the heavy lifting has been taken out,” Mr McKay said.

“We now have the foundation for great market access which will give further opportunity for growth and future employment.”

Between 80 and 90 per cent of product’s from the boning rooms at T & R Pastoral, Murray Bridge are exported to more than 70 countries around the world.
